🏔️ Best Time to Visit – Rangthar Thatch Trek

  • 🌸 March – May: One of the best seasons for Rangthar Thatch Trek. Forests bloom with rhododendrons, weather is pleasant, and views are clear across Tirthan Valley.
  • ☀️ June: Meadows turn lush green and scenic, but occasional pre-monsoon showers can make trails slightly slippery.
  • 🌧️ July – August: Heavy monsoon season. Dense clouds, rain, and muddy trails make trekking difficult and risky. Generally avoid.
  • 🍂 September – November: Best overall trekking season. Crystal-clear Himalayan views, stable weather, and perfect camping conditions at Rangthar Thatch.
  • ❄️ December – February: Cold winter season with snow at higher elevations. Trek is possible but requires proper winter gear and experience.

Day 01 :
Gushaini → Pekhari → Lakcha → Rangthar Thatch

🚙 Drive Distance: Gushaini to Pekhari (~10 km)
🥾 Trek Distance: ~8 km
⏳ Duration: 5–6 hrs trek
⛰️ Altitude: Pekhari – 2,170 m | Lakcha – 2,550 m | Rangthar Thatch – ~2,900 m
🌿 Begin the trek from the ecozone village of Pekhari. Walk through traditional Himalayan villages and terraced fields to reach Lakcha, where lunch is served. Continue with a steep climb through forests to reach the beautiful meadow of Rangthar Thatch. Overnight camping amidst spectacular mountain scenery.

Day 02 :
Rangthar Thatch → Talinga Shalinga → River Head → Gushaini

🥾 Trek Distance: ~10 km
⏳ Duration: 5–6 hrs trek
⛰️ Altitude: Descend from ~2,900 m to Gushaini – 1,600 m
🏞️ Enjoy panoramic views from Rangthar before descending through Talinga Shalinga and forest trails towards the river head. Continue to Gushaini, concluding the trek through the scenic landscapes of the Great Himalayan National Park Ecozone.
