Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 Bathad – Majhauli:
The distance will be covered about 7kms and time will be covered about 3 ½ hours.
Day 02 Majhauli -Palach (3000 Mts.):
The distance will be covered about 13kms and time will be covered about 6 hours.
Day 03 Palach- Kunsha Thatch (3000 Mts.):
The distance will be covered about 13kms and time will be covered about 6 hours.
Day 04 Kunsha- Bhimdwari (3800 Mts.) -Parvati Bagh (4200 Mts.):
The distance will be covered about 14kms and time will be covered about 7 hours.
Day 05 Parvati Bagh- Nain sarovar (4700 Mts.)-Srikhand Mahadev-Camp:
The distance will be covered about 7kms and time will be covered about 7 hours.
Day 06 Camp-Phangcha:
The distance will be covered about 14kms and time will be covered about 7 hours.
Day 07 Phangcha- Jalori- Kafnu:
The distance will be covered about 14kms and time will be covered about 6 hours.
Day 08 Kafnu (2700Mts.) - Mulling (3280Mts.):
Leaving the village of Kafnu we head eastward over a well-defined path through luxuriant forests of Pine and Deodar. You are rewarded with excellent views of the Spiti and Kinnaur mountain ranges. Evening camp at another tiny settlement at Mulling. The path is through forest and meadows. Steep climb in parts. The area is home to the Siberian Ibex (Capra ibex sibirica), the Red Fox (Vulpes), Pika (Ochotana roylei) and Weasels (Mustela spp). Overnight in tents. Trekking Distance: 15km and Trekking Time: 5 hrs.
Day 09 Mulling (3280Mts.)-Fushtiarang (4200Mts.):
Trek along the Wanger River and a forested green valley. A few stream crossings are involved. Some of the commoner birds are Tibetan Snow-finches, Alpine Accentor, and Jungle Crow. We reach the Bhaba Pass base and camp on the banks of the Wagner River. In the later half we follow the left bank of the river to Pustring (base of the pass), 4200M. Several streams join here. Great view of the Hansbeshan peak, 5840M. The birds to lookout for include Great Barbet, Striated Prinia, Verditer Flycatcher, Grey Wagtail, White Wagtail, Blue rock Thrush, Oriental Turtle Dove, Himalayan Swiflet, Asian brown Flycatcher, Plombous water Redstart, Brown Dipper, White capper Redstart, Green backed Tit and Grey headed Canary Flycatcher. Overnight in tents. Trekking Distance: 12 km and Trekking Time: 6 hrs.
Day 10 Fushtiarang (4200Mts.) to Bhaba Base (4000Mts.)/ Chochoden:
Uphill Trek to The avifauna of the region includes the Lammergeyer (Gypaetus barbets), Himalayan Griffon (Gyps himalayensis), Golden eagle (Aqua chryaetos), Chukar partridge (Alectronics Chukor), Himalayan Snow Cock (Tetra Gallus himalayensis) and a host of Rosefinches (Corpodacus spp). Crossing Bhaba Pass. Overnight in tents. Trekking Distance: 13km and Trekking Time: 5 hrs.
Day 11 Bhaba Base (4000Mts.) - Baldur (3900Mts.):
Crossing the Pass we descend down a steep incline to the camping site at Baldur. Birds to look for include European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis), Blue throat (Luscina svecica), Black Redstart (Phoenicurus ochrurus), Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), Spotted Dove (Streptopelia chinensis), Grey Wagtail, Eurasian Sparrow-hawk (Accipiter nisus Black Redstarts and White Wagtail. Overnight in tents. Trekking Distance: 6 km and Trekking Time: 3 hrs.
Day 12 Baldur (3900Mts.) - Mud (3800Mts.):
We are now in the Pin Valley and on the periphery of the Great Himalayan National Park home to Ibex, Snow Leopards, Himalayan Black and Brown bears and numerous birdlife. Mud is a small hamlet and we camp just outside. Hume's short-toed lark, plain mountain finch, rock bunting, black redstart etc. One can expect to see Blue sheep, Pika, Red fox etc. Overnight stay at Tara Home Stay. Trekking Distance: 6 km and Trekking Time: 3 hrs.
Day 13 Pin Valley National Park (3900Mts.):
We will explore surrounding areas for birding. Look for Himalayan Snowcock, Tibetan snow finch, Eurasian eagle owl, Common swift, Long-tailed shrike, red-billed & yellow-billed choughs, tickell's leaf warbler, Horned lark, Citrine and White wagtail etc. The walk up to the Kungri Monastery high up in a rock cleft. There is also a new monastery here now built with the assistance of Japanese Buddhists. The older monastery contains precious frescoes and manuscripts dating back tot the 11th century. Moreover, there is a possibility of catching one of their colorful masked dances. Evening return to camp. Overnight stay at Tara Home Stay and Trekking Distance: 6 km with Trekking Time: 3 hrs.
Day 14 Mud to Losar
