The Kanchenjunga National Park Trek (Dzongri) is a spectacular high-altitude Himalayan adventure through the pristine wilderness of West Sikkim. The 10-day journey begins at historic Yuksom and winds through dense oak, magnolia and rhododendron forests, alpine meadows and dramatic glacial valleys.

The trek’s major highlights include the breathtaking Dzongri Top, where sunrise reveals panoramic views of Kanchenjunga, Pandim and Kabru, followed by the challenging ascent to Goecha La at 4,940 m / 16,207 ft. From this spectacular viewpoint, trekkers experience magnificent close-up views of the Kanchenjunga massif and surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Covering approximately 95 km, this moderate to difficult trek combines challenging high-altitude trails with extraordinary mountain scenery, remote wilderness and traditional Himalayan landscapes. Accommodation is provided in tented camps and trekker huts, offering an authentic Himalayan trekking experience.

Itinerary

Day 01 :
Arrival at Bagdogra → Yuksom

🚙 Drive Distance: ~150 km
⏳ Duration: 6–7 hrs drive
⛰️ Altitude: Yuksom – 1,770 m
🌿 Scenic drive through the foothills of Sikkim to Yuksom, the historic gateway to Kanchenjunga National Park.

Day 02 :
Yuksom → Tshoka

⏳ Duration: 6–7 hrs trek
⛰️ Altitude: Tshoka – 3,050 m
🌲 Trek through dense oak, magnolia and rhododendron forests crossing beautiful suspension bridges and mountain streams.

Day 03 :
Tshoka → Phidang

⏳ Duration: 4 hrs trek
⛰️ Altitude: Phidang – 3,650 m
🏔️ Gradual ascent through alpine forests with stunning views of surrounding Himalayan ridges.

Day 04 :
Phidang → Dzongri

Day 05 :
Dzongri Exploration & Acclimatization

Day 06 :
Dzongri → Onglathang

🏞️ Trek through alpine meadows and glacial valleys with magnificent mountain scenery.

Day 07 :
Onglathang → Goecha La → Thangshing

Tshoka → Yuksom
