The Kasturi Trek is a spectacular high-altitude ridge and lake adventure through the pristine wilderness of West Sikkim, following a scenic circuit from Yuksom to Dzongri and across the remote Kasturi Ridge. The 10-day journey combines dense rhododendron forests, alpine meadows, glacial valleys and remote high-mountain landscapes with extraordinary views of the Eastern Himalayas.

The trail gradually climbs from the historic gateway of Yuksom through Sachen and Tshoka to the renowned Dzongri Plateau. An early morning ascent to Dzongri Top at 4,300 metres rewards trekkers with breathtaking sunrise views of Kanchenjunga, Pandim, Kabru and Rathong before continuing towards the spectacular alpine terrain of Thangsing and Kasturi Ridge.

One of the major highlights is Lampokhari Lake, a pristine high-altitude lake surrounded by rugged mountain scenery. The route then descends through remote ridgelines, forests and traditional villages towards Labdang and Pelling, offering a fascinating contrast between the high alpine wilderness and Sikkim’s rich cultural landscapes.

Covering approximately 80 km, this moderate to difficult high-altitude trek is ideal for adventure seekers looking for a less-travelled Himalayan route combining spectacular mountain views, alpine lakes, wildlife and traditional Sikkimese landscapes.
